AWS Cloud Services

Application Migrations
EquiTek is specialized in the service offering to migrate software applications to AWS. We provide Lift and Shift, Replatform and Modernization services to Government customers. EquiTek has developed a structured methodology to conduct detailed discovery, and estimate the effort and time that it requires to migrate applications to AWS.

Modernization
We take advantage of the best practices, such as Landing Zone Accelerator to deploy a quick and accurate client network and security at AWS. EquiTek leverages well architected framework to ensure all pillars are effectively addressed, and offers a phase wise approach to replatform and modernize the application subsequent to Lift and Shift. End client will be briefed with the findings and recommendations for next steps in the AWS Cloud journey.

Disaster Recovery
Based on the client's RTO, RPO requirements and the AWS architecture, Equi-Tek will evaluate and then recommend the most appropriate Disaster Recovery solution. AWS offers four main disaster recovery (DR) strategies you can leverage to create backups and replicas that are available during disaster events. Each strategy has progressively higher cost and complexity, but lower recovery times:
-
Backup and restore – involves backing up your systems and restoring them from backup in case of disaster.
-
Pilot light – involves running core services in standby mode, and triggering additional services as needed in case of disaster.
-
Warm standby – involves running a full backup system in standby mode, with live data replicated from the production environment.
-
Multi-site active/active – running a full, secondary production system, ready to serve traffic when needed.

Database Migrations
Equi-Tek will analyze the customers database size and data cutover requirements to recommend an optimized data migration approach. The options of live migration with zero down time or backup and restore with minimal downtime or a combination of these two approaches will be reviewed with the client. We leverage AWS Database Migration Service for this purpose.
Customer Engagement
EquiTek follows the Statement of Work (SOW) templates provided by the State vendor management system provider. Typically, SOW covers below sections.

Project boundaries
Includes In-scope, Out-of-scope, Assumptions and Dependencies based on the initial discovery phase findings. These are reviewed and confirmed with the client.

Risk/Issue Management
Maintain risk and issue logs, monitor and track them. Record mitigation and assign responsibility and target date for actions.

Solution components
Proposed AWS Solution Architecture (DEV TEST and PROD), Security and Disaster Recovery option based on the application environment context (workloads, software licenses, interfaces, performance, security, and databases, and migration considerations). The solution design is reviewed with the AWS Solution Architects, and client technology teams.

Effort estimation
Effort estimation, timeline, and milestones including tasks for testing and production go-live.

Transition planning
Knowledge sharing with client team, technical documentation and responding questions. Given the small size of IT teams in Government, this is a critical step to succeed.
Communication planning
